Cuvette Central Basin

First Energy Africa’s priority basin — a vast interior position at the heart of the DRC programme, advanced through disciplined, data-led evaluation.

Basin overview

The Cuvette Centrale is one of the largest intracratonic sedimentary basins on the African continent, occupying much of central DRC beneath the Congo River system.

Our work begins with data: reprocessing what exists and acquiring what is missing, before any capital is committed to the ground.

Basin work programme

A phase-gated programme

Each stage carries defined objectives and decision gates, and proceeds only when the evidence warrants.

PHASE 0 Complete

Data assembly

Legacy datasets assembled and the regional geological framework established.

PHASE I In progress

Seismic & G&G

Reprocessing, basin modelling and prospect maturation across the priority area.

PHASE II Planned

Exploration drilling

First wells to test the highest-ranked prospects against the basin model.

PHASE III Future

Appraisal

Appraisal of any discovery and phased development aligned with national priorities.

Illustrative — phase sequencing and status are representative and do not constitute a disclosure of work commitments, reserves, or resources.
